Constance Wu says an ambitious writer assaulted her on their second date

Constance Wu claims she was raped on a date with an ambitious writer early in her career.

The 40-year-old actress stated in her forthcoming autobiography “Making a Scene” that she was able to erase the alleged incident from her mind for years until she became famous in Hollywood after filming “Crazy Rich Asians.”

She remarked about her accused rapist, Ty, in the book, an excerpt of which was published by Vanity Fair prior to the book’s October 4 release: “When Ty asked me out on a date, I felt like I had been welcomed to the table of the popular kids. He was 36 years old and a true New Yorker.

Ty was tall and possessed broad shoulders. He had the type of complexion that suggested he likely had freckles on his shoulders.

She said that the alleged rape occurred during her second date with Ty at his apartment, stating, “He felt me between my legs, and I moved him away timidly, but he could feel my arousal.

“He removed his pants and began putting on the condom, which was an obvious indication for intercourse, which I did not want.

So I responded, “Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry, I’m not ready to have sex with you.”

She stated that Ty persisted and was “very sensitive,” adding, “I reiterated as sincerely as I could, “Really, I’m not ready for sex,” with my cheeks flushing.

“He smiled at me again like if I were a kitten, held me close, kissed me, and then separated my legs softly, but he did it anyhow.

“I did not retaliate. I just… given up… I detest that that occurred.

“He asked me to spend the night. I whispered that I needed to return to my apartment for my skincare routine.

“I apologized a million times.”

She recalled the experience more than a decade later, saying, “I was on a plane from Singapore, where I had completed filming ‘Crazy Rich Asians.’

“I had just awoken from a slumber when the understanding struck me like a deluge. Ty violated me. He raped me, and I did nothing to stop it. A odd sound, nearly a squawk, croaked involuntary from my throat.

“Embarrassed, I hoped no one heard me on the plane. My pulse was racing. I experienced a split-second of panic. But then I was able to calm myself down through reasoning. I did not consent to sexual activity.

“It may not have been violent, but it was a rape. Period.”
