Connecticut couple finds bear eating in their kitchen

According to CBS New York, a couple in Connecticut discovered a black bear inside their house, helping itself to food.

The burglar was discovered by West Hartford resident Bill Priest on Sunday when he entered his kitchen.

Apparently, he reached for a chair to place between himself and the animal. The bear ultimately made its way outside via the front door, but not before devouring the entire bag of marshmallows and other treats, according to the station.

“He did startle me. That was probably the one time I was scared,” Priest said. “He had everything on the floor in there eating.”

Christine Vannie, the priest’s wife, told WFSB that she and her husband had just left for the backyard when her husband went inside to get a drink before the incident.

They didn’t notice anything unusual because they had outdoor music playing until Priest entered the kitchen.

She stated on social media that it took considerable persuasion to convince him to leave. “I share this since this bear was not shy, unlike other bears.”

According to the priest, the bear returned the next day and tried to enter by ripping a screen.

Additionally, he observed a bear last week raiding a refrigerator in his garage.

According to Vannie, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection delivered a trap when she called them. The department will attempt to capture, tranquilize, and tag the bear.

According to the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, black bear sightings are rising in Connecticut as the state’s population expands and grows. A total of 7,300 bear sightings were reported to the agency’s wildlife division in 2019 from 150 of the 169 municipalities in the state.
