Coldplay’s Chris Martin sells Primrose Hill house

Coldplay singer Chris Martin sold the property he once lived with Gwyneth Paltrow for an astonishing £7 million profit.

The massive 33-room property in North London’s Primrose Hill neighborhood is built up of two buildings combined into one.
In May 2004, the pair purchased the first for £2.5 million from Kate Winslet and her then-husband Sam Mendes.

They then bought the neighboring house for £3 million in 2009 and undertook substantial renovations.

The combined mansion, which includes eight bathrooms and a gym, has now been sold for £12.5 million to an Asian billionaire.
Martin and Paltrow lived there until 2014, when they announced their ‘consciously uncoupling’ breakup. Martin kept the house despite moving to California, where he now lives with Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson.

‘Chris acquired the house in the divorce, but he retained it even though he now lives in Malibu,’ a source added. Although his life is thoroughly American, it may have been a connection to the UK for him, and he certainly made a nice profit on it.’

Eight rooms were created on the lower ground floor, six on the next level, and five on the first floor by the couple. On the second floor, there were also eight rooms according to the plans.

They constructed two two-story expansions, providing space for a gym, changing room, three additional bedrooms, an additional bathroom, and a garden and play area for their daughter Apple, who was born shortly after they purchased the first home, and her younger brother Moses, who is now 16.

The house is only a few doors down from James Corden’s previous residence, which he sold last year.

Martin and Paltrow moved to Los Angeles in 2013, just before announcing their breakup. They filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court a year later.

The Coldplay frontman purchased a three-bedroom ranch in Malibu for £4.25 million in May 2019, but sold it in January 2021 when he bought another home in the region for £11.1 million.

Paltrow, 49, and her second husband, Brad Falchuk, now live in Montecito, California.

The pair also owns a home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, as well as a vacation home in the Hamptons, a popular summer resort for wealthy New Yorkers where they married in 2018.

Martin and Paltrow are still friends, and Martin attended Apple’s high school graduation in Santa Monica last week.
‘Proud doesn’t cover it, my heart bursts with the feeling I can’t put into words,’ Paltrow wrote on Instagram.
