Mamelodi Sundowns played a thrilling 2-2 draw against Al Ahly in the group stages of the CAF Champions League at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo. Masandawana took the lead in the first half and added a second goal in the second half before the Red Devils scored twice to equalize. Head Coach Rulani Mokwena congratulated both teams on a good performance, but also expressed pride in his team’s efforts, stating that it was a difficult game against a strong opponent. He also praised the performance of Thapelo Morena, who came off the bench to score an important goal.

The Brazilians have played three games so far in the group stages, collecting seven points in total and registering their first draw in group B after being successful in their opening two games. Coach Rulani introduced his new signings and young players in their encounter against Ahly and emphasized the importance of giving them experience in highly contested African competitions.

The Brazilians’ back-to-back victories over Al-Hilal and Coton Sport and their draw against Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stage put them ahead of their competitors and in a good position to make it to the knockout stage. Coach Rulani emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time and growing step by step.

The Bafana Ba Style will now return to South Africa to resume their defence of the Nedbank Cup in a match against Marumo Gallants on Thursday at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
