Nigerian singer CKay, also known as Chukwuka Ekweani, has expressed gratitude towards artists Tekno and Runtown for their contribution to the success and recognition of his music both locally and internationally.

Taking to his Twitter account, CKay thanked the musicians and predicted that in the future, the Nigerian music industry would recognize and discuss the significance of Tekno and Runtown in the crossover success of Afrobeats.

He specifically mentioned how their music laid the groundwork for songs like “Love Nwantiti,” “Emiliana,” “Ku Lo Sa,” and “Calm Down.”

Felabration 2023 Dates Announced

The organizers of Felabration, the annual music festival that celebrates the legacy of Nigerian Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, have revealed that this year’s edition will take place from Monday, October 9 to Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Felabration is a week-long event that commemorates Fela’s contribution as the creator of the Afrobeat genre and his renowned activism in the realm of human rights.

Initiated in 1998 by Fela’s daughter, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, the festival aims to honor his remarkable heritage.

Theme and Activities of Felabration 2023

In a press release shared with journalists in Lagos, the organizers announced that this year’s theme is “Question Jam Answer,” taken from Fela’s classic 1972 record.

The chosen theme resonates with the current socio-political climate in Nigeria, where people are seeking answers to pressing questions following the intriguing general election.

Felabration 2023 promises to present a vibrant display of African music, creativity, and resilience through various forms of art, dance, fashion, and music.

Exciting Lineup and Activities

As with previous editions, this year’s Felabration will feature the Senior Secondary Schools Debate, The Fela Debates (Symposium), The Afrobics Dance Competition, The Artwork Competition, The Dress Fela Fashion Competition, The Musical Concert, and other engaging activities.

The concert will showcase some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, as well as foreign artists, who are set to perform at the renowned New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos.
