According to local officials, a woman in Florida was charged with having sex with her dog while her ex-boyfriend is accused of recording everything on camera and saving it to a hard drive.

According to an arrest record released by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Christina Calello “willingly engaged in sexual behavior with the dog” multiple times over the span of close to eight years.

Calello’s ex-boyfriend Geoffrey Springer, 39, was also detained after he “recorded the sexual activity and placed it on a flash drive.”

Deputies took the dog away from the former couple and transported it to a nearby animal facility for standard checkups.

Its breed is unknown, however the police reported that it had no obvious wounds.

After being detained, Calello and Springer were accused of having sex with animals.

Christina Calello, 36, who lives in Safety Harbor, Fla., was arrested and charged Tuesday for having sexual encounters with her dog over the course of eight years. She posted a $5,000 bond to be released from Pinellas County jailThe Pinellas County Jail was then used to lodge them. Since then, Calello, who was arrested in the county jail but now resides in Safety Harbor and is originally from New Jersey, has been freed after posting a $5,000 bond.

According to additional prison documents, Calello was detained and accused of domestic assault in May.

Springer, who has never been arrested before, was freed on his own recognizance and without posting bond. No court date for the pair has been made public as of Thursday.

In the Sunshine State, bestiality is a first-degree misdemeanor that carries up to a year in prison as a possible punishment. The typical fine for offenders is $1,000, according to the law firm Muscala Law.

Except for four states—Wyoming, New Mexico, Hawaii, and West Virginia—where there are no clear laws against having sex with an animal, bestiality is banned almost everywhere in the US.

Animal abuse is what it is regarded as in its place.

The Journal of Qualitative Criminal Justice and Criminology reports that although there are no solid figures on bestiality, “classic studies show that 5 to 8 percent of males participate in bestiality, while between 3 and 4 percent of women do.”
