Christian nurse sues NHS trust for ‘pushing racist beliefs’ on kids

A Christian nurse claims that the healthcare system puts a “racist mindset” on its pupils and is suing an NHS Trust for discrimination.

The Portman Clinic in North London, a unit of The Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, is being sued by Amy Gallagher, 33.

The nurse, who is finishing up a two-year program at the trust in forensic psychology, alleges that she has experienced racial, religious, and philosophical discrimination.

The mental health nurse complained to the trust after she was reportedly made to attend a lecture in October 2020 with the topic “Whiteness – a Problem of Our Time.”

The online presentation went on to say that “the issue of whiteness is a problem of racism” and urged participants to face “the reality of whiteness.”

In a meeting with her course director, Ms. Gallagher said she did not consider herself to be racist and that she adopted a “color-blind” perspective, which means she did not differentiate between individuals based on the color of their skin.

According to Ms. Gallagher, she was informed that such a colorblind method is now “outdated.”

In January of last year, Ms. Gallagher formally complained to the Tavistock Trust.

According to The Telegraph, the legal dispute intensified in March when an outside speaker complained to the Nursing and Midwifery Council that Ms. Gallagher had “caused race-based injury” and couldn’t work with “diverse populations” as a consequence.

The first court case for “lack of belief,” according to Ms. Gallagher, would contend that a white Christian lady cannot believe in Critical Race Theory.

The idea disapproves of the colorblind approach and claims that racism is institutionalized.

They are imposing Critical Race Theory on individuals, she said, and if you object, they will harass you for two years if you do.

I’m filing this lawsuit to defend my professional reputation, but it’s also before the courts.

It must be stopped that someone is being forced by the NHS to accept a racist mindset.

The nurse, who will be represented by Andrew Storch Solicitors, filed court filings in Central London County in March. Shakespeare Martineau, the nurse’s defense attorney, plans to deliver his case this week.

In order to complete her therapeutic training, Ms. Gallagher, who has been employed for seven years, participated in the D59F Forensic Psychodynamic Psychotherapy course at the Portman Clinic in September 2020. She had previously finished the foundational psychotherapy course at the Tavistock.

She said that she originally loved the two-year, part-time program, which would enable her to open a private practice for psychotherapy.

However, I was alarmed when, in November, forensic psychotherapist Dr. Anne Aiyegbusi gave a required lecture to students on prejudice and race.

The professor, according to Ms. Gallagher, “talked badly about Christianity while other faiths were not discussed.”

The nurse created a Go Fund Me page for the “#StandUpToWoke Tavistock discrimination Lawsuit” in August 2021.

On the website, she claimed that the funds will be used to support the first litigation, the class action case, and the Judicial Review application.

In the most recent year, it has raised £27,518.

The nurse previously claimed that the Trust had threatened to terminate her enrollment in the last year of a more than £20,000 psychotherapy program.

According to my experience there, what they refer to as anti-racism is racism, the woman remarked. They have an intolerance for anybody who has a different opinion than they do.

“Such institutional bullying will only get more brazen if left unchecked.”

“I have strong feelings about this.” I’m hoping that my case will demonstrate that it’s improper to teach these discriminatory views in schools or the NHS as if they were genuine facts.

We are unable to comment on an ongoing legal matter, a Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust spokeswoman said.

We have publicly stated as a trust that we would seek to become an anti-racist organization.

After an investigation determined that it was “not safe” for children, the contentious child transgender clinic run by the NHS Trust was forced to close its doors in July.

Regional centers at current children’s hospitals will take the role of the gender identity program and provide more comprehensive treatment with “strong linkages to mental health services.”
