Families in Cardiff seeking budget-friendly entertainment this summer are in for a treat.
Chapter Arts Centre, an arts venue, is extending its school holiday program to provide support to local families during the costly summer break.
From July 24 to September 1, the venue will offer free packed lunches for children, free film screenings, and free art packs, aiming to alleviate financial burdens and ensure an enjoyable summer for all.
Free Packed Lunches:
Chapter Arts Centre will provide free packed lunches for all children under 18 throughout the six-week program.
There are no qualifying factors or questions asked, and the lunches will be available from 12pm every weekday, with vegetarian and vegan options included.
Children can enjoy their meals at the venue’s Caffi Bar or take them away.
Free Film Screenings:
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, Chapter Arts Centre will offer free family film screenings.
The lineup features popular movies like Wall-E, Ice Age, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, The Greatest Showman, The Princess Bride, and more.
Tickets will be available for purchase this month, and a certain number of seats will be reserved for walk-ins each day.
Free Art Packs:
Art packs inspired by the current exhibition, “The Botanist,” by Canadian artist Myfanwy MacLeod, will be available for free at the venue’s art gallery.
These packs will include quizzes, teasers, coloring activities, drawing exercises, and more, allowing children to explore their creativity during the summer break.
Paid-for Events:
In addition to the free activities, families can also enjoy paid-for events, such as children’s theatre shows and screenings of Barbie and Spider-Man.
