Channel O, a music channel established in South Africa that transmits a variety of music videos and related events/news, is commemorating 25 years at the forefront of youth and numerous other musical cultures and genres.
The pan-African DStv channel, whose primary focus is African music in Africa and the diaspora, has matured significantly. As the holiday season approaches, Channel O is providing viewers with additional reasons to cheer.
From the days of Kwaito and Hip Hop to the period of Amapiano, the channel has remained perennially young, and is commemorating this achievement with a memorable December.

The channel has significantly shaped and influenced music and popular culture over the years. It has reinforced movements and subcultures by giving them the attention they deserve. Konka Christmas (Starts Sunday 25 December at 2pm)
The seven-hour music mix special at Konka Day Club has the top DJs, including Kitchen Mess, DJ Ph, Lerato Kganyago, DBN Gogo, Oscar Mbo, DJs @ work, and Kabza De Small.
Music Pervasive (additional airing on Sunday 25 December at 1pm)
With music handpicked by the great Zakes Bantwini, the Osama hitmaker presents us a picturesque musical experience featuring views and sounds from the musician’s favorite locations, demonstrating that music can be enjoyed…anywhere.
Channel O Top fifty (additional airing Saturday 24 December 10am)
From Master KG to Kelly Khumalo, Amapiano to Hip Hop, 2022 was a busy year for local musicians. Teboho ‘Caddy’ Tsotetsi guides us through some of the videos that dominated South African airwaves during this season of Channel O Top 50. Channel O emphasizes music above all else.
