Because it was too “political” and near to the midterm elections, CBS, NBC, and Fox News all declined to carry Biden’s prime-time address criticising MAGA Republicans and Donald Trump.
Biden gave a speech on Thursday in Philadelphia, but according to those involved in the discussions, the networks decided not to air it since it was two months before the midterm elections because they saw it as “political.”
Instead, CBS played a repeat of Young Sheldon, NBC ran Law and Order, and Fox, the most-watched cable news station, aired Tucker Carlson Tonight’s most recent episode.
Biden created division in his address
In his controversial address, Biden singled out Trump by name, denouncing the former leader for falsely alleging that the 2020 election was rigged and castigating those who support him.
To thunderous cheers from his fans, Biden said that “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represented radicalism that challenges the fundamental underpinnings of our nation.”
The next day, Biden retracted his comments in response to criticism of his speech’s content and delivery, saying: “I don’t consider any Trump supporter a danger to the nation.”
