Carlos Alcaraz is now the youngest male World No. 1 in the history of the ATP rankings.
On Sunday, the 19-year-old Spaniard won the men’s singles title at the US Open.
“I never imagined I would accomplish something like this at age 19,” he remarked.
Something is being loaded.

The historic US Open triumph of Carlos Alcaraz has made him the youngest male World No. 1 in the history of the ATP rankings.

Sunday’s thrilling men’s singles final at Flushing Meadows saw the 19-year-old Spaniard defeat Casper Ruud of Norway 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.

Alcaraz won his maiden Grand Slam championship and surpassed Daniil Medvedev atop the ATP rankings with this victory.

Since the ATP rankings were created in 1973, only Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya, and Rafael Nadal have been ranked No. 1 in the world.

Alcaraz stated in his on-court interview, “This is what I’ve dreamed of since I was a child: to be number one in the world and the champion of a Grand Slam.”

I’m only 19 years old, so all of the difficult decisions are made in conjunction with my parents and my team.

“This is something that I hold in the highest regard.”

Later, when speaking with reporters, he added, “It’s crazy for me. I never imagined I would do something like at age 19.”

Nadal, who was ousted in the fourth round of this year’s US Open by Frances Tiafoe, was quick to congratulate Alcaraz.

“Congratulations on your first Grand Slam and No. 1 ranking, the pinnacle of your first amazing season, which I am certain will be followed by many more!

” wrote Nadal on Twitter.

When questioned about Nadal’s remark, Alcaraz responded, “Well, I have one. He has 22. I am on my way. I am currently appreciating the present. I appreciate holding the trophy in my hands.

“Of course I’m eager for more. I hope to remain at the top for many, many weeks, if not years.

“After this week, this incredible two weeks, I will work hard once more. I intend to push for more of this.”
