In a video published by Vice News on Thursday, the Cougar Town star could be seen being led away by two police officers while sporting a shirt that stated, “I will help and abet abortion.”
Along with several other executives of Planned Parenthood, Philipps, 43, was detained for obstructing traffic outside the courthouse.
She informed the media that her demonstration was “For equality.” People in the audience could be heard applauding her and shouting, “Thank you for your service,” as she was handcuffed and carried away.
Philipps published images and footage of her detention in a lengthy Instagram post where she discussed the protest.

Philipps has been transparent about her own experience having an abortion when she was 15 years old.
In a 2019 episode of her talk program, Busy Tonight, she stated, “I had an abortion when I was 15 years old and I’m telling you this because I’m genuinely extremely worried for women and girls all around the country.”

Philipp’s arrest comes as President Biden vowed to defend abortion rights and claimed that the US Supreme Court’s ‘outrageous’ decision was ‘destabilizing’ America.
