Bullies in Portland school common room beat girl while staffer watches

A bunch of female school bullies severely assaulted a female student in the school’s common area as a male staff member strolled by and did nothing.

The victim, identified only as LS in a $1 million lawsuit filed by her mother, was charging an electronic device in the common room of Portland’s Grant High School when a red-haired girl wearing a white hoodie approached her and began speaking with her.

The Oregonian said that the two engaged in a heated exchange for many minutes before the assaulter pounced on LS and began brutally striking her.

During the dispute on January 4, a male staff member seated at the far end of the common area can be seen hurriedly going along the wall without once looking at the conflict.

After the death of George Floyd in June 2020, the Portland Public Schools ceased employing officers in schools due to concerns raised by activists that the officers were targeting students of color.

The event occurred at Grant High School, which employs security officers. In the wake of George Floyd’s death by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020, the Portland Public Schools eliminated school police, also known as school resource officers.

As the conversation escalates, surveillance footage reveals the girl repeatedly wrapping up her arm before delivering hefty blows to her opponent.

LS can be seen cringing away from the strikes while wearing a black sweatshirt, but the other girls quickly surround her.

At one point, she can be seen kneeling on the ground as the girl in the white hoodie punches her in the head.

The five girls are observed leaving the cafeteria with composure shortly after the staffer. The girl in the hoodie returns seconds later, but she does not touch the other girl.

As two male students walk into the cafeteria, the girl can be seen huddled near the booth where she was seated. According to the lawsuit, she had a bloody nose and visible blood on her clothes, and she was visibly shaken.

She suffered from head contusions, a swollen nasal bridge, head and neck muscle strain, and continuing right shoulder pain and stiffness. She also suffered from a rotator cuff problem requiring physical therapy.

Her mother, 50-year-old Rahel Fessehazion, is now suing Portland Public School for $1.1 million for her daughter’s physical and mental disabilities and the school’s negligence.

Since her freshman year, Fessehazion claims her daughter, a junior at the school, has been taunted by this group of girls. Administrators issued a no-contact order during LS’s freshman year, which placed the girls in separate classes.

The complaint also said that the school pulled the girls from school for only a “few days” after the altercation, resulting in “further harassment and significant mental harm” for LS.

After the fight, LS eventually acquired a temporary stalking protection order against the two girls. The finalization of the protective order occurred in February, according to the lawsuit.

On February 7, two of the girls were taken from Grant High School and transferred to another institution.

LS later transferred for her senior year, as she had ‘lost all confidence in Grant High School’

Fessehazion asserts that the school was aware of the dangers but permitted it to occur regardless.

She requests $780,000 for the employee’s carelessness and $400,000 for her daughter’s emotional suffering.
