Wednesday’s draw pitted Orlando Pirates against Venda Football Academy in the Round of 16 of the 2022/23 Nedbank Cup. As a result, Orlando Pirates will host Venda Football Academy at Orlando Stadium.
Following last week’s thrilling opening round, only 16 teams left in the tournament. Eleven teams from the top division and five teams from lesser divisions advanced to the next round.
The Buccaneers will now face a Motsepe Foundation Championship opponent for the second consecutive round, following their 2-0 victory over All Stars at Wits Football Stadium last Saturday.
They will now face the guys from Limpopo, who will be traveling for the third time in this year’s championship, having defeated Hungry Lions on the road in the preliminary round and FC Black Cross in the round of 32.
The two teams will clash for the first time, with Venda hoping to claim a notable scalp against the Soweto Giants, who are seeking to advance in their quest for a ninth Nedbank Cup victory and their second trophy of the current campaign.
The Round of 16 fixtures are slated for mid-March, with the League will clarify the exact dates and kick-off times in due course.
