Insider interviews Alastair Morgan, whose brother was murdered in 1987, and Neil Woods, a former undercover police officer who now investigates police corruption, regarding how police corruption actually operates.
During his 14-year tenure as an undercover police officer in the United Kingdom, Neil detailed in the interview every sort of corruption he witnessed and even committed.
During his service in the police force, Neil came to the opinion that the illicit drug market finances the majority of police corruption.
Alastair Morgan described how his brother Daniel Morgan was murdered in South London with an axe in 1987.
He stated to Insider “As a result of the circumstances that transpired, I was sure within three weeks that the police were involved in Daniel’s death. That was a frightening prospect.”
At the time of the murder, Daniel and her business partner Jonathan Rees ran a detective firm. Alastair feels that both Jonathan Rees and unscrupulous police officials participated in the murder.
Since the murder of Daniel Mogan, there have been five distinct police investigations. Multiple arrests have been made against Jonathan Rees and Detective Sergeant Sid Fillery. Each time the charges were dismissed.
After filing a malicious prosecution claim against the Metropolitan Police in 2014, Jonathan Rees and Sid Fillery were awarded six-figure damages.
In 2021, an independent review determined the Metropolitan Police to be “institutionally corrupt.” “in its handling of the murder probe of Daniel Morgan.
Alastair is in the midst of filing a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Police. The crime remains unsolved.
