Brisbane teen shakes 11-month-old till she’s ‘limp and blue’

Diquan Lloyd Erwin Fisher, an irate adolescent, shook an 11-month-old infant placed in his care when she started screaming before she became “limp and blue.”

In February 2020, a 17-year-old woman in Brisbane’s south requested Fisher, then 18 years old, to watch her infant daughter.

Fisher grabbed her up, gave her a hard shake, and urged her to stay quiet after the mother had departed. The Supreme Court was informed.

When the kid stopped responding and the mother went back to the Corinda residence, Fisher, now 21 years old, started “freaking out.”

He originally informed the mother that the infant had been choking, coughing, and vomiting.

Paramedics at the site performed CPR on the little girl, but she passed away four days later at Queensland Children’s Hospital, according to authorities.

When injuries were discovered on the infant that were consistent with where he had grasped the youngster, Fisher subsequently admitted that he had shaken her from “side to side,” according to crown prosecutor David Nardone.

The infant started wailing, and Fisher’s actions seemed to be a “act of exasperation,” the court heard.

After Fisher’s sentence on Friday, the mother sobbed as she left the courthouse before her tragic victim impact statement was delivered.

“Learning I was pregnant really altered my life.” In her statement delivered in court, she said, “Her love gave me hope for the future.”

Nothing is too difficult for me to do for her. She was constantly grinning and smiling, and she gave me the sweetest hugs and kisses.

My life was shattered by losing her. I hope you get what you deserve because I would never have left her with him if I had known he might harm her.

According to Fisher’s defence attorney, Fisher had shown a tremendous lot of regret and shame over the “catastrophic implications” of his actions and what he had done to the family.

Fisher was originally detained on suspicion of murder, but on Friday she entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Justice Martin Burns will probably sentence him the following week.
