President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for his election as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Tinubu’s emergence as the new ECOWAS Chairman occurred during the 63rd Ordinary Session of the coalition held in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
He succeeded President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau.

In a statement posted on his verified Twitter page on Sunday night, Tinubu emphasized that his election signifies Nigeria’s continued leadership within the sub-region and the African continent.
He expressed his renewed dedication, along with the nation’s commitment, to advancing peace and progress in the African sub-region following his appointment as the new ECOWAS Chairman.

President Tinubu also outlined his government’s commitment to fostering collaboration and dedication in addressing trans-border challenges related to security, economic growth, and sustainable development.
