Body found in the search for another missing woman formally identified as that of Laurel Aldridge

The body of missing woman Laurel Aldridge has been formally identified, according to Sussex Police. The 62-year-old, who is the sister-in-law of actor Mackenzie Crook, was reported missing on February 14 from her home in Walberton, West Sussex.

Following an 11-day search, a body was discovered in the Tortington Lane area of Arundel. On Thursday, police confirmed the formal identification of the body.

In a statement released on Saturday, a spokesperson for the police said, “Sadly the body of a woman has been found in the Tortington Lane area of Arundel. At this stage, the family of missing Laurel Aldridge have been informed and we are seeking to confirm the identity of the woman.”

Crook, who is known for his roles in The Office, Pirates Of The Caribbean, and Worzel Gummidge, made public appeals to find his sister-in-law and spoke about the impact of her disappearance on the family.

In a Good Morning Britain interview on Tuesday, he praised the family’s determination and stoicism during the search.
