Bishop of Burnley to be Appointed on 10 January 2023

The Right Reverend Philip North, Suffragan Bishop of Burnley, has been nominated for election as Bishop of Blackburn, and the King has given his approval.

The Right Reverend Philip North, Suffragan Bishop of Burnley, has been nominated by the King to succeed The Right Reverend Julian Henderson as Bishop of Blackburn after his retirement.
Background
Philip received his education from the University of York and his ministry training from St. Stephen’s House in Oxford. He was ordained a priest in 1993 and performed his duties at St. Mary the Virgin in the Diocese of Durham. Philip began serving as the vicar at Holy Trinity and St. Mark’s in Hartlepool in 1996. In 2000, he was named the area dean of Hartlepool.
Before being named Team Rector of the Parish of Old St. Pancras in the Diocese of London in 2008, Philip was appointed Priest Administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in the Diocese of Norwich in 2002.
In 2015, Philip accepted the position of Bishop of Burnley.
