Biker dies in Collision

Keiron Smith, a 30-year-old man from Wrexham, was tragically killed on his bike after being hit by a car. He was riding along the A541 Mold Road at Gwersyllt, Wrexham, when a white Fiat 500 collided with him on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene of the collision, which happened shortly after 4 pm. Keiron, who was known by his nickname ‘Pidge’, was described as a “larger than life character” who took “every day as it came”.

His heartbroken family said that Keiron would talk to everyone he passed on the streets and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, and a couple of cans of beer.

They added that despite his lifestyle, he always had good intentions and would always do what he could for people.

They also shared a childhood memory of how he would take himself off to the local supermarket to buy the cheapest Swiss roll cake with his pocket money, whether it be chocolate or jam sponge.

North Wales Police has appealed for information about the incident. Sergeant Nicola Laurie of the Roads Policing Unit expressed sympathy for Keiron’s family and friends and urged anyone with information about the collision to come forward.

Upon reviewing CCTV in the area, they have identified a silver taxi and a Blue Renault Modus that were all seen driving along Old Mold Road and may have seen the cyclist moments before the collision occurred, between 3:45 and 4:05. They also urged those who stopped at the scene to come forward.

Keiron’s family thanked people for their kind messages and calls and also thanked those who helped at the roadside as well as the Welsh Ambulance Service and Wales Air Ambulance.

They ended their statement with a heartfelt message for Keiron: “Mum will always love and miss you. I will miss your voice and cheeky smile. You made me laugh so much; life will never be the same again. Fly high my son, until we meet again xxx Rest in peace.”

If you have witnessed the collision or have any information, you can contact North Wales Police via the live web chat or by calling 101 and quoting reference number 23000187025.
