The Federal Election Commission received President Joe Biden’s application for reelection on Tuesday.

Despite some Democrats raising worries about his poor poll ratings, this is the clearest sign yet that Biden intends to compete for re-election.

However, a Gallup poll conducted last week found that he had his best approval rating of the year, at 44%.

He has made progress recently by announcing a proposal to cancel student loans, signing the Inflation Reduction Act, and killing al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri.

Records indicate that the Biden campaign began the FEC filing procedure on Friday, one day after the poll’s publication.

The next presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024, when Biden will be 81 years old, or nearly 82.

At age 78, he defeated former President Donald Trump in November 2020 to become the oldest person ever elected to the position.

Biden has declared his intention to seek re-election ever since taking office.
