Biden and family returns to Washington Monday after spending weekend at Camp David

After spending the previous weekend at Camp David, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden returned to Washington on Monday accompanied with son Hunter, his wife Melissa, and baby Beau.

The Bidens will later host the customary Fourth of July cookout with military families on the South Lawn.

As police authorities searched for the shooter who opened fire and murdered at least six people during a July 4 parade in Highland Park, Illinois, the first family arrived.

In a statement issued immediately after landing, the president referred to the massacre as “senseless” and stated that there was still “more work” to be done about gun legislation.

On this Independence Day, he remarked, “Jill and I are horrified by the senseless gun violence that has once again torn a community in America apart.”

“As always, we appreciate the assistance of the law enforcement and first responders.” I have spoken with Mayor Rotering and Governor Pritzker, and I have promised their cities the full support of the federal government.

‘I also surged Federal law enforcement to assist in the urgent search for the shooter, who remains at large at this time. Members of the community should follow guidance from leadership on the ground, and I will monitor closely as we learn more about those whose lives have been lost and pray for those who are in the hospital with grievous injuries.

‘I recently signed the first major bipartisan gun reform legislation in almost thirty years into law, which includes actions that will save lives. But there is much more work to do, and I’m not going to give up fighting the epidemic of gun violence.

Hunter Biden‘s appearance comes as top House Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, have vowed to pursue investigations into his business dealings if they take the majority in the House.

In a July 1 op-ed for The New York Post, McCarthy and Reps. Jim Jordan and James Comer, wrote that Congressional Republicans’ investigation ‘have found Biden family members used their connections with Joe to enrich themselves through expectations of access and promises about what a Biden administration might do.’

‘A Republican majority will be committed to uncovering the facts the Democrats, Big Tech and the legacy media have suppressed,’ the trio of GOP lawmakers said.

Republicans in Congress have made Hunter Biden a priority target because of his business connections in China and the Ukraine while his father was vice president.

After previous travels to Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, the president departed on Friday to spend the weekend with his family at Camp David.

The president urged Americans to enjoy the “goodness” of the country on Monday morning to observe the Fourth.

‘The Fourth of July is a sacred day in our country – it’s a time to celebrate the goodness of our nation, the only nation on Earth founded based on an idea: that all people are created equal,’ the president wrote.

‘Make no mistake, our best days still lie ahead,’ he added.

The timing of Biden’s post coincided with the ‘Airmageddon’-like pandemonium that many passengers experienced over the holiday weekend due to irritating delays and airline cancellations.

Aside from raising the cost of having a BBQ, inflation has increased the cost of driving.

The president has suffered the price for polling-inflation, with a Real Clear Politics approval rating of 38.4% on average.

In the midst of rumors of a second mass shooting, which left at least six people dead at a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago neighborhood of Highland Park, Biden was also making his way back to the White House.
