Battle over child custody gets tragic as mother get sent to jail

A murdering mother yelled in court, “I’m innocent, f**k you all, you’re garbage” as she was sentenced to life in prison for shooting her six-year-old son nine times with a shotgun.

Thursday, a judge in Minneapolis sentenced Julissa Thaler, 29, to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of her son Eli Hart in May of 2022. During her sentencing, Thaler launched into a vile tirade.

After being sentenced for murdering Eli while he sat in the back of her car with a weapon, the deranged murderess was also observed giving the finger.

She purchased the firearm six days after Tory Hart filed for custody of her son.

Thaler was given the opportunity to address the court after being sentenced, and he stunned the courtroom with a torrent of profanity that Judge Jay Quam deemed inappropriate.

Nikita Kromberg, the killer’s own sister, described her as a “monster” in a victim impact statement.

Quam, in sentencing Thaler, spoke of the horrors of a child’s death and stated, ‘It’s worse, however, when you don’t lose your child due to cancer or an accident. It is when a child is taken from the world.

Nobody can imagine a scenario in which the person who takes a child from the world is the same person who brought that child into the world.

Eli was seated in a booster seat in the trunk of Thaler’s gray Chevrolet Impala when she fired nine shots into his body, reloading the gun between each shot.

According to the Star Tribune, the onslaught of violence left his remains severely mutilated, and local police and prosecutors deemed the crime to be one of the worst they had ever seen.

The police later stopped Thaler after a concerned witness reported seeing her severely damaged vehicle near a dumpster.

Officers observed that her sedan’s rear window was shattered and that one of its wheels was completely destroyed.

They discovered Eli’s remains as well as the murder weapon in the trunk. Thaler was also found to have dumped body parts of her son in a nearby dumpster.

A security camera captured chilling images of Thaler and Eli leaving her apartment on the morning of his death.

The child had only recently lost his two baby front teeth.

Later, Thaler was captured on camera wearing the same outfit while conversing with police officers following the murder of her son.

The jury took only two hours to find her guilty of first-degree murder.

The court heard that Thaler purchased the weapon less than a week after Eli’s father, Tory Hart, filed for custody. No motive for the murder was given.

Due to her alcoholism and drug addiction, she had lost custody of the child twice prior to his murder.

Additionally, Thaler suffered from depression, a mood disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

After her arrest, it was discovered that she had conducted Internet searches including “How much blood can a six-year-old lose?”

Thaler was also found to have researched “payment for life insurance if a child dies,” “how to commit a crime and blame a child,” and “what length may I saw off a shotgun barrel?”

Tory Hart has filed a $75,000 wrongful death lawsuit against Dakota County Social Services for allowing Eli to return to his murderous mother.

During Thursday’s court hearing, Eli’s loved ones gave heartfelt tributes.

During Thursday’s sentencing hearing, a photograph of the child with his missing teeth was displayed.

The court was informed that Eli was a sweet-natured child who once rescued a stranded panfish from the shore of a lake and told his family not to be afraid of bees because “they are nice and we need them.”

In her victim impact statement, his stepmother Josephine Josephson stated, ‘The pain is so intense that you cannot breathe.

“You cannot justify the death of your only son… Then, to have lost him in such a tragic manner, it’s impossible to explain how that alters your life.’

“We have been condemned to a lifetime of suffering, confusion, grief, sorrow, and trauma.” An eternity without Eli.’

Thursday in court, through tears, Josephine added, “Eli was an innocent and loving 6-year-old.” He was not deserving of this. Eli deserved to grow up in a safe and happy environment.

After Eli’s mother lost custody on one occasion, Nikita Kronberg, Thaler’s sister, stepped in to foster him.

She expressed horror at the murder, blamed herself for failing to save Eli, and stated that she believed Thaler was destined for hell.

Kronberg remarked, “How could someone do such a terrible thing to such a wonderful, loving child?

Nobody will ever know why she committed the act against Eli. We can only assume that it was intended to keep Tory and Eli apart.

However, this separation was only temporary.

“One day, they will be reuniteed in heaven.” But we all know she will never again be with Eli… She’s destined for hell, where she belongs.

In Eli’s honor, a GoFundMe page has been established to construct a memorial playground.
