Sunday night, two helicopters collided near SeaWorld on Australia’s Gold Coast, killing at least four people, according to sources.

Queensland Police acknowledged the collision via Twitter, but did not provide any information.

“Because of a helicopter crash, Seaworld Drive in Main Beach has been closed. “Drivers and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area,” the agency tweeted.

According to 9News Australia, the Queensland Ambulance Service said that 13 victims were being evaluated and six were sent to local hospitals.

Police confirmed to the news organization that one of the helicopters was able to land safely after the aircraft “made contact with each other.”

Images and video captured at the incident depict wreckage covering a sand island near the coast. On the sand island, numerous emergency personnel were observed assisting with the disaster.

Workers from the emergency services examine the remnants of one of the helicopters.

It is unknown what caused the crash.
