Cavoodle killed in Gold Coast bollard flip


During an evening stroll, a metal bollard toppled and crushed the family’s beloved cavoodle puppy to death, prompting the family to seek answers.

Owner Alex Xu was walking Coco and her mother Stella around 5pm on August 24. As they made their way towards a fountain at The Boulevard in Emerald Lakes on the Gold Coast, one of the metal bollards, which was not securely bolted into the ground, fell on top of Coco (pictured, the base of the bollard that was removed)

Coco (pictured) was rushed to a veterinary clinic and placed in an induced coma within 20 minutes. She had suffered a fractured skull and staff were unable to save her. She was pronounced dead on Friday

Coco, a cavoodle aged eight months, was murdered when a dislodged metal bollard crushed her head.

24 August saw a dog walking along The Boulevard in Emerald Lakes, Gold Coast.

Within twenty minutes, she was transported to the veterinarian and placed in an induced coma.

Alex Xu was informed by phone on Friday morning that Coco had passed away.

An investigation is currently ongoing to discover how the bollard became detached.

A family is lamenting the death of their pet puppy after a metal bollard sadly crushed and killed her.

Alex Xu was walking his eight-month-old cavoodle puppy Coco and her mother Stella on the Gold Coast at approximately 5:00 p.m. on August 24 when the horrifying tragedy occurred.

As they approached a fountain on The Boulevard in Emerald Lakes, a metal bollard that had not been properly secured to the ground fell on top of Coco.

Mr. Xu observed in horror as a friendly employee from a nearby restaurant came over to aid the woman.

Mr. Xu told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday that the good Samaritan’s vehicle was stained with blood.

He stated, “The kind lady offered to transport us to Carrara Vet Clinic.”

Due to the amount of blood, it is possible that the woman’s seat will be discolored.

On August 24 at 5 p.m., Coco and her mother Stella were being walked by their owner Alex Xu. Within twenty minutes of arriving at the clinic, Coco was thrown into an induced coma while veterinarians urgently attempted to save her life.

Staff were unable to save her because she sustained a fractured skull and internal bleeding from the bollard.

Friday about 10 a.m., Mr. Xu received a phone call informing him that Coco had passed away.

Mr. Xu, his wife Lynn, and their children Leo, age 20, and Laura, age 10, are devastated by the untimely passing of their beloved Coco.

Mr. Xu stated, “Stella, Coco’s mother, is sad and wonders where her daughter is.”

Twenty minutes after being taken to a veterinary clinic, Coco was induced into a coma. She had a shattered skull, and medical personnel were unable to save her. On Friday, she was proclaimed deceased. Mr. Xu got a letter on Tuesday from Emerald Lakes – Principal Body Corporate’s body corporate managers.

The letter stated, “We have requested the security tape of the incident, and an inquiry will be conducted to determine how the situation occurred.”

The PBC understands that the bollard was broken, possibly pushed over by a delivery truck, and then reinstalled without any repairs or notification to the Body Corporate.

‘Neither the office at Emerald Lakes Residential nor the Facilities Manager of the Principal Body Corporate were informed.

Since the disaster, all bollards in the village vicinity have been inspected. This particular bollard was the only one missing its attachments.

Mr. Xu got a letter from the body corporate managers of Emerald Lakes – Principal Body Corporate on Tuesday.

Mr. Xu expressed doubt that a delivery driver had struck the metal bollard.

He stated, “I remain doubtful about the notion that a truck hit the bollard.”

You would need a drill to remove those bolts, as there are up to a hundred bollards in the vicinity.

Mr. Xu returned to the area to assess the base where the unsecured metal bollard had been installed.

Mr. Xu and his family are determined to determine how the loose metal bollard came to be.

His family is desperate to learn the true reason why the bollard came loose.

He stated, “We are committed to get to the bottom of it so that no one else may endure our grief.”

“So many youngsters play here…

If a toddler was struck, it may result in a severe injury.

We are not seeking compensation for our loss, but if we were to obtain compensation, we would donate it to Pet Rescue.

Mr. Xu told the Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, “We are not seeking any compensation for our loss…if we did receive it, we would donate the money to Pet Rescue.”
