Archdiocese of Los Angeles announce funeral arrangements for late Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell

The funeral arrangements for late Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell, who was murdered in his Hacienda Heights home on February 18, have been announced by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Three days of services will be held for O’Connell, starting on Wednesday, March 1. A memorial Mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, followed by a public viewing at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

A vigil Mass will be held at the cathedral, followed by the funeral Mass, which will also take place there. O’Connell was known for his work in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, where he ministered to immigrants and those affected by gang violence and poverty.

The motive for his murder remains unclear, and bail for the suspect in custody has been set at $2 million.
