Appointment of 2 legal members of the Civil Procedure Rules Committee


Ben Roe and Virginia Jones have been approved as legal members of the Civil Procedure Rules Committee by the Lord Chancellor.

Ben Roe and Virginia Jones have been appointed by the Lord Chancellor as legal members of the Civil Procedure Rules Committee (CPRC) for a period of three years beginning on 10 June 2022.

In the Civil Division of the Court of Appeal, the High Court, and the County Court, the CPRC oversees practice and procedure.
Lord Chancellor Appointments consults with the Master of the Rolls and the relevant professional body prior to appointing legal members of the CPRC.

The Commissioner for Public Appointments regulates appointments, and recruitment procedures according to the Governance Code for Public Appointments.

Biographies
Ben Roe is the Lead Knowledge Lawyer for Baker McKenzie’s Global Disputes and Compliance Group and is responsible for knowledge management and training for litigation, arbitration, and compliance attorneys. He belongs to the Association of Litigation Professional Support Lawyers and the Quality Assurance Board that oversees the Witness Intermediary Scheme.

Virginia Jones is the Director of Learning, Knowledge, and Development at London’s Stewarts Law.

She is a lawyer with over ten years of client-facing experience in general commercial disputes and an additional ten years of experience in a “knowledge” context, ensuring that civil conflicts lawyers are current on and able to apply current law, procedure, and best practices. Virginia is also a member of the London Circuit Commercial Court Users Group’s committee.
