Anti-Gang Unit arrests man caught with uncut Diamonds.

On Thursday, July 29, in the late afternoon, Worcester’s Western Cape police detained a Namibian man in a shopping center parking lot.

MAN FOUND HOLDING UNCUT DIAMOND

According to Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a spokesman for the South African Police Service (SAPS), members of the Anti-Gang Unit received information about a red Toyota Corolla with a diamond-bearing driver.

The vehicle and its occupants were searched at around 13:25, and a Namibian man was discovered to be in possession of six uncut diamonds.

He was taken into custody and will likely show up before the Worcester Magistrate’s Court after being charged.

If detected in South Africa with uncut diamonds, someone who does not have a license might spend up to 10 years in prison.

The Diamonds Act of 1986 mandates that anyone who discovers an uncut diamond in an area where prospecting, mining, or digging are prohibited must take the stone to the closest police station.

ASSERTIVE HIJACKER RUNS INTO A WALL

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old male was detained for alleged hijacking shortly after the alleged crime allegedly occurred on Thursday night in Lilian Ngoyi Street, Samora Machel.

“When the vehicle was observed, the members were occupied with their work in crime prevention.

In an attempt to avoid being arrested, the driver of the car crashed into a brick wall, according to Twigg.

Despite fleeing the scene, the suspect was quickly apprehended and was discovered in possession of the victim’s things.

The man will soon appear in front of the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
