Animal medicine seizure notice: 216 phenobarbitone 30 mg tablets seized at airport

The following veterinary medication was brought into Heathrow Airport with an animal.

An Animal Health Officer discovered it and held it, and the product was confiscated by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate.

The animal had been sent from South Africa and was meant for a home in Bristol. The package comprised the following items:

216 phenobarbitone 30 mg tablets
This product was designed for use in dogs, however it is not an official veterinary treatment in the United Kingdom, and it had not been recommended for use in the animal by a UK veterinarian.

The drug was confiscated under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 and Regulation 25 (Importation of illegal veterinary medicinal items).
