An aquatic chicken enjoys the ovation she gets from beach-goers for her surfing skills

A chicken named Mrs Chook has become a beach sensation in Victoria’s Ocean Grove Beach, southeast of Geelong, by body-surfing five waves every second day. According to owner Elaine Janes, Mrs Chook developed a love for the sea during Covid lockdowns. Ms Janes takes the chicken to the beach, where she walks into the water and gradually acclimatises to the ocean.

Mrs Chook has become a local favourite and even featured in TikTok videos. After surfing, the aquatic chicken is treated to a shower, a warm towel, and sometimes even a blow-dry to ensure that no feathers are ruffled. Ms Janes insists that Mrs Chook loves wave riding, despite it being a rarity among chickens.

Ms Janes said that Mrs Chook has a passion for being in the water and body surfing, which is evident from her content and joyful expression.
