The United Kingdom and the United States have long engaged in friendly rivalry, but one American expat has revealed the whole range of British customs that drive him absolutely bonkers.Mark Cole, who is presently residing in Scotland, used the video sharing platform TikTok to discuss the many aspects of life in the United Kingdom that drive him crazy.

His long list of complaints includes the fact that British people don’t observe American holidays like Thanksgiving and Independence Day (the Fourth of July).Mark also complains that everything is so ‘small’ in Britain, adding to his list of grievances. The TikToker claims that compared to their American counterparts, Britons are lagging behind in all aspects of home improvement. The housing issues, however, did not end there. While many Americans may be frustrated by the persistent summer rain, they may be even more perplexed by the fact that many of their homes lack air conditioning.

Even while Mark’s sinks, rooms, and residences aren’t as spacious as a mansion in Calabasas, the size of the spiders there is.

The driving in Britain, and no, it wasn’t the roundabouts; it was the parking that baffled the average American visitor. While standing next to a line of cars parked on the side of a residential street, the bewildered American remarked, “Brits just park at the side of the road.”Mark, who has around 5,000 TikTok followers, said that Britain was not the cleanest country in the world.Mark claims that “everything looks like it needs a power wash” because of the habitual littering of the British.

Even though there are several American fast food chains represented on the island (such as McDonald’s, KFC, and Taco Bell), some Americans have complained that they miss familiar chains like iHop, Cheesecake Factory, and Target. Both American and British fans turned to the comments to fight about who was the better country. In response to Mark’s claim that “they” (meaning Britain) “don’t do fall like the USA,” a native of the United Kingdom said, “We don’t do fall because it’s called Autumn.”‘It’s almost as if you’re in an other nation,’ said a second.Others quickly jumped to defend Britain, with one saying, “We have Greggs,” and another adding, “We also have…”

Saying, “Yeah, but we have Tesco”The American received some support for his complaints about Britain from those who shared them, with one person adding, “I’m British and complain about all the same things, except the rain, heat makes me feral.”Others were unconvinced by his need for air conditioning, and they also complained that it rained all the time; in response, Mark said, “It can still be hot when it’s raining.”And several people offered to help Mark pack his luggage, with one woman remarking, “Close the door on your way out,” which seemed to sum up a lot of people’s thoughts.
