Amelia, Ukrainian girl who melted hearts singing Let It Go, escaped being victim of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

The young girl who melted hearts by performing the Ukrainian national anthem during a football match has played the famous song Let It Go to entertain a crowded bunker in Kyiv.

Amelia Anisovich, a seven-year-old from Kharkiv, Ukraine, made an appearance before the UEFA Nations League match between Ukraine and Armenia.
Because Ukraine has been unable to play at home since Russia’s invasion, the game was played on neutral territory in Lodz, Poland.

Ruslan Malinovskyi, Oleksandr Karavaev, and Vitaliy Mykolenko scored for Ukraine, which won its second straight Nations League game after losing to Wales in the World Cup playoff.

In March, footage of Amelia performing the instantly recognizable song from the Disney animated film Frozen went viral.
Hundreds of thousands of people shared the charming rendition across various social media sites.

Amelia received words of support from Idina Menzel, the song’s original performer, and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the song’s writer.
Many worried, though, that ‘the little girl with the exquisite voice,’ as Anderson-Lopez called her, would become yet another unfortunate victim of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Fortunately, after six days in a bunker surviving on almost no food or water, young Amelia accomplished a grueling two-day journey to Poland and is now safe with her grandma.

Her 15-year-old brother Misha accompanied her on the journey, but her mother Lilia and father Roman remained in Kyiv.

‘I always thought Amelia was a highly gifted and sweet angel, and now the whole world knows it,’ Lilia, 39, told The Sun.

‘However, it’s a tragedy that she’s only a celebrity as a result of so much death and destruction.’

‘It was heartbreaking to say goodbye to my children, but it was the only way to ensure their safety.’

Amelia sings a cover of Let It Go for people hiding in the bunker in the video.
Others are seen reclining on the floor or standing or sitting around Amelia, recording her act on their phones.

The song was written for the soundtrack of the Disney animated film Frozen.

It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100, sung by actress Idina Menzel and written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Disney released a collection of 42 foreign-language versions of the song in 2014, including Ukrainian and Russian translations.

The audience erupts in applause and cheers when Amelia finishes.
