Alec Baldwin claims he and others won’t be charged in the Rust shooting

Alec Baldwin has stated that he does not expect anyone, including himself, will face criminal charges for the shooting that murdered cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a film set.

In October 2021, the actor accidently shot and killed Hutchins, 42, on the set of his film “Rust” in Bonanza Creek Ranch, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and wounded director Joel Souza. In a recent interview, Baldwin confessed that he believes the deadly occurrence has shortened his life by years.

He has repeatedly denied pulling the trigger on the gun that was meant to be loaded with blanks on the set of the film.

The actor also engaged a private investigator as New Mexico prosecutors considered whether to file criminal charges in connection with the deadly shooting in Santa Fe.

Baldwin told CNN: ‘That private investigator had easy access to the personnel of the sheriff’s department, and that individual told us that the department has known since January that Alec would not face criminal charges.’

Last Thursday, the FBI produced a study stating that Baldwin could not have accidentally discharged the weapon. Santa Fe Sheriff’s department has confirmed that the matter would be forwarded to the District Attorney, which means he might still face criminal charges for the event.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Hutchins’ armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed revealed that the FBI has not yet examined the live bullets that killed Hutchins for fingerprints to discover how they came up on set.

The former 30 Rock actor proceeded to blame Reed and Kenney for the shooting, saying – and repeating in an Instagram post – that he cocked and retracted the gun’s hammer, but did not fire the trigger.

He added on the social networking site on Friday, ‘This first statement is the most significant aspect of this post. To my knowledge, no one has ever claimed that a cocked gun discharged without a trigger pull.

The firearm was never fired. Never. The hammer was drawn back as far as possible WITHOUT cocking the firearm. When it was released, the gun fired.

Not loaded. No trigger pull. Only pull back hammer… and liberation Who loaded the live bullet into the firearm?

Gutierrez Reed’s attorney, Jason Bowles, said that more investigation into Kenney’s participation in the shooting was necessary.

Bowles stated in a statement, ‘We concur with Mr. Baldwin and think that Seth Kenney, as Rust’s major ammo supplier, mixed live and blank ammunition. Again, we have requested that the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and FBI analyze the live rounds for fingerprints and DNA to authenticate their origin. They have not yet provided a response to this crucial issue, which must be answered in order to learn the complete truth about what occurred.’

During the interview, Baldwin proceeded to ask questions of both Gutierrez Reed and assistant director Dave Halls.

Why did she not inspect the bullet? Why did Halls not comply? Why did he hand me the firearm? Why did he not verify? Why did he inform the crew that the pistol was cold? Attorney Lisa Torraco for Halls asserts that Baldwin is attempting to deflect responsibility: Baldwin points fingers at others since the evidence points in his direction. Halls is not at fault. Everyone must cease. People are merely throwing the fault at Halls because they do not want to take the blame for being incorrect. Halls is a scapegoat. People must examine the evidence.

Earlier this week, the actor was spotted wearing a black T-shirt, navy blue shorts, and sandals while having lunch at Clam Bar in Montauk, Hamptons.

Baldwin has just returned following the release of the FBI report. Meanwhile, Hutchins’ widower was observed earlier this week removing goods from the Hollywood house of a female acquaintance.

In an interview with Chris Cuomo on his new YouTube show, The Chris Cuomo Project, the actor stated that he had grown weary of waiting for prosecutors to make a decision, but that his counsel advised him not to press for one.

The interview appears to have been filmed prior to the release of the FBI report, which was not released until Tuesday morning.

Baldwin and Cuomo — who is attempting a return after being sacked from CNN last year — commiserated about what they characterized as an unjust and possessed media that is hellbent on destroying them, with Baldwin taking particular aim at The New York Post and ‘everything controlled by Rupert Murdoch’ I used to believe that only police officers would read the Post’s sports page, so I was startled to realize that many other individuals also read the newspaper.

Baldwin continued by stating that while he is disappointed by what has occurred, Hutchins is the’real’ victim.

To zero down on a single point: I am not the victim here. Things are going to improve and become clearer for me. I am 1000% sure.

Nothing will bring this woman back to life. She has died. She has a little son.

“Herein is the true tragedy. Nothing we’ve said matters – neither I nor the press. The actual tragedy is what happened to this woman, is my argument.

“While we anxiously await that report, everyone on the film set is aware of what occurred.”
Baldwin said that “everyone on set knows what transpired that day” and those yelling “loudest” about what they believe occurred were not present.

“Everyone is awaiting the sheriff’s report, but the district attorney is not bound by it; the DA can press charges anyway.

While we anxiously await this report, everyone on the film’s set is aware of what transpired.

The LA Times and the Hollywood Reporter speculate endlessly about ‘what if this?’ and ‘what if that?’ while not being on the film’s set.

They have consumed this, and the only thing they share in common is that nobody was present. Everyone who was present knows precisely what transpired and who is to blame.

Thursday morning, Baldwin’s counsel stated that the FBI report had been “misinterpreted.”

The FBI report has been misinterpreted. When the hammer was moved back during testing, the pistol shot only once — without the need to pull the trigger — and shattered in two distinct locations.

Due to its terrible state, the FBI was unable to fire the pistol in any previous test, even while pushing the trigger, he claimed.
