Al Roker’s Tesla is uncooperative and refuses to work properly

They are likely growing bored of it!

Al Roker and his wife, renowned ABC journalist Deborah Roberts, appear to have jumped on the Tesla bandwagon and purchased one of the future electric vehicles, but they may come to regret their decision.

Page Six has received not one, but two reports of the weatherman and reporter engaging in full-scale combat with their Model X on the streets of New York.

Roker, who has recounted a number of recent health difficulties on the “Today” show, was transported to the hospital in November, leaving his Emmy-winning journalist wife behind in their car.

However, it looked that the Tesla’s doors were inoperable, requiring Roberts to attempt to break into the vehicle in order to collect her cell phone before taking a taxi to the medical center.

According to a source at the time, Deborah, his wife, was understandably furious. “She had left her phone and other belongings inside their Tesla, which was malfunctioning and would not unlock, so she was attempting to break a window in order to retrieve them.”

On the weekend, it seemed that the two yearned for a traditional internal combustion engine.

Sunday morning, Roker and Roberts had brunch with friends at Marks on Madison, according to Page Six sources. (We’re also told that Jeff Zucker, the former head of CNN, was enjoying a pleasant meal at a different table).

But when Roker and Roberts paid up and hopped into their sporty little Nintendo-on-wheels, one of the car’s signature gull-wing doors wouldn’t close, according to an unforgivably amused source.

A mimosa-sipping source revealed, “Al was seated in the car attempting everything he could to close the door.”

The diner said that the “Today” host appeared to make a phone conversation before closing the door manually (which, according to a source, “may not be ideal for a car with motorized doors”), but eventually got it functioning properly.

According to a source close to Roker, the sensor was obstructed by a piece of cardboard.

Interestingly, this is not the first time we’ve reported on the pair’s automobile dilemma. Sources told us that in 2019, when apple picking in Massachusetts, they got their Jaguar caught in a hole and had to be hauled out.
