After being called ‘divide-and-conquer,’ Biden visits Wisconsin and Pennsylvania

On Monday, Joe Biden will travel to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania for consecutive Labor Day remarks honouring the “dignity of American labour.”

After his address in Philadelphia on Thursday, which is still causing Republican ruckus, he travels to the two crucial swing states, which will be crucial in the 2022 midterm elections.

The president will first stop at the Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee before moving on to Pittsburgh to visit a local United Steelworkers of America post.

Marty Walsh, the secretary of labour, will travel with Biden on Monday.

Following Biden’s’soul of the nation’ speech on Thursday in Philadelphia, which is across the state of Pennsylvania from where the president will make follow-up remarks on Monday, GOP lawmakers and voters are incensed.

Republicans assert that Biden made comments that were generally perceived by that group as divisive and an attack on far-right voters, characterising pro-MAGA Republicans as a threat to democracy.

Since then, Biden has apologised for his comments and stated that he does not consider Donald Trump’s followers to be a threat to democracy.

He will now make an effort to deliver speeches of repentance that honour American workers, despite the fact that the economy is still in trouble.

According to the traditional definition of two consecutive quarters of negative Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, the United States is currently in a recession after Biden assumed office two years ago. Inflation and petrol prices have also reached historic highs.

Unemployment is the only statistic that has improved since Biden’s administration, despite the vast shortfalls, partly as a result of the rise from record-low levels at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

In Wisconsin, Democratic contender Mandela Barnes, the lieutenant governor of the state, will compete against Republican incumbent Senator Ron Johnson in the general election.

As Republicans try to gain a majority in Congress after two years of a Democratic trifecta in the House, Senate, and White House, Pennsylvania is also a crucial battle for the 2022 midterm elections.

Mehmet Oz from the television show “Doctor Who” will face off against Democrat John Fetterman in the race for Republican Pat Toomey’s open Senate seat. Despite Oz receiving Trump’s prized endorsement, his chances in the Keystone State don’t seem promising.

Philadelphia visit by Biden The day before Trump’s event in his Pennsylvania hometown of Scranton was Friday.

Important swing states for presidential and congressional elections include Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Both states supported Trump in 2016, but switched to supporting Biden in the 2020 presidential election by voting blue.

Pennsylvania and Wisconsin must remain on the president’s side if he is to win re-election.
