After an attack, police open a murder inquiry

Detectives have opened an inquiry into the death of a 40-year-old man who was the victim of an attack.

Officers just detained a second guy in his 40s suspected of being involved in the assault, according to the latest report.

Following claims of an attack, police were called to Tenters Street in Bishop Auckland soon after 5 a.m.

Although North East Ambulance Service paramedics arrived quickly, the guy was declared dead there.

While investigators do their investigations, a police cordon is still in place, and residents are encouraged to stay away from the area.

The inquiry’s chief detective, Detective Superintendent Lee Gosling, stated: “This investigation is still at its very early phases, and we’re trying to figure out precisely what occurred.”

“I want to tell the locals that we do think this was an isolated event, and we are not seeking for anybody else in relation to it.

While authorities carry out more investigations, there will be a significant police presence in the area. Please contact one of these officers if you observed the event or have any information that might aid our investigation.
