Adele starts Vegas residency: “Thank you for coming back to me”

Adele’s Las Vegas residency has finally begun after being suddenly postponed in January.

On Friday night, the 34-year-old Grammy winner performed in the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in front of more than 4,000 people, including her 10-year-old son Angelo and boyfriend Rich Paul.

“Thank you very much for returning,” she addressed the audience, as reported by The Guardian. “It looks just like I imagined it would.”

Adele sang several of her most popular songs, including “Easy on Me,” “Skyfall,” “Rolling in the Deep,” and “Rumour Has It.” During “When We Were Young,” she even displayed a touch of romance by embracing Paul onstage.

After five years since her last concert, the British-born musician became emotional and shed multiple tears during the performance to convey her appreciation for her fans.

Adele canceled her highly anticipated residency with only one day’s notice earlier this year, citing delivery delays and the COVID-19 epidemic.

Months later, during an appearance on a British radio program, she revealed that she felt obligated to discontinue the show because it was simply subpar.

“I felt everyone’s sadness, I was devastated, and I was terrified of letting them down. I believed I could pull it together and make it work, but I couldn’t, and I stand by my decision,” she added, adding that she refused to back down.

She said, “You cannot purchase me, you cannot buy me for nothing.” “I’m not going to do a concert just because I have to, because people will be disappointed, or because we’ll lose tons of money. I’m thinking, “This show isn’t good enough.”

During her show on Friday night, Adele addressed the reaction by thanking Caesar’s Palace for having her back.

Since I canceled my gigs, a lot of trash has been published about me, therefore I’d like to thank Caesars,” she remarked.

“Let me tell you, ninety percent of it is completely made up – there have been rumors that I’m transferring hotels and theaters, but no one has ever asked a question.”

The day prior to her debut performance in Las Vegas, the Oscar winner admitted on social media that she was “very anxious.”

“My emotions are all over the place as I type this. I am extremely emotional and really anxious, but I cannot sit still because I am so excited. I feel a million miles away from home, and I can’t quit wondering how Tom Jones got from Wales to Las Vegas in Mars Attacks when I was a child.

“I’m always nervous before performances, which is a good indication since it means I care and want to do a good job. Perhaps it’s because I didn’t begin when I should have. Maybe it’s because it’s opening night, maybe it’s because Hyde Park went so well, or maybe it’s because I adore the show; I’m not sure.

“However, it’s safe to say that I’ve never been more terrified before a gig in my career, and yet I wish today were tomorrow! I cannot wait to see you in the wild x”

The run of “Weekends with Adele” will conclude on March 25, 2023.
