AAIB Updates the Investigation document of Embraer ERJ 170-100 LR, G-CIXW

The AAIB investigation into a significant incident involving an Embraer ERJ 170-100 LR, registration G-CIXW, on descent into Birmingham Airport on June 7, 2021, is updated in this announcement.

The pilots were notified of a pitch trim failure and related autopilot malfunction, which led to increased nose-down control forces in pitch, necessitating the pilot to exert more force to control the aircraft than was customary for an approach.

The pilots were informed of a steering system malfunction shortly after landing. There were no casualties or property damage recorded. The investigation is nearing conclusion, and the findings will be released for public comment soon. The study is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2022.
