A crook poses as a G4S security guard to trick bank staff into handing over cash boxes with £150,000 inside

A crook pretended to be a G4S security guard in order to lure bank employees into turning over cash boxes containing £150,000.

According to authorities, the suspect entered a Santander branch in Brixton wearing an outfit that included a helmet and visor but wasn’t even a G4S uniform.

According to reports, the individual removed two cartons at once in violation of the law and displayed a fake ID.

‘It’s being called the Noah’s Ark job — because the cash boxes went out two by two,’ a source told The Sun.

Another source indicated that the uniform wasn’t even a G4S one, and that therefore concerns needed to be raised.

It’s possible that the offender had a getaway car ready to whisk him from the south London scene.

Only after the thief failed to show up to sign for the six boxes, each of which contained £25,000, did employees at the Santander bank start to suspect a scam.

The cash boxes feature coded dyes that would soak the bank notes if anyone accessed them without authorization, but it’s possible that the thief had inside assistance to get around this barrier.

Police have questioned employees and examined the suspect’s CCTV footage. On this case, Santander is collaborating with the police.
