A toddler in Kentucky helped law enforcement locate a fugitive while attempting to serve multiple outstanding warrants to the suspect on Friday, for which the child received praise from law enforcement. Deputies with the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department are calling the toddler “very brave and honest” for assisting in the arrest after none of the adults at the residence would say whether the fugitive was in the home, as per police reports.

When officers approached the residence, none of the adults answered whether the suspect was present. But the small child, who was only visiting the home, pointed out where the suspect was hiding after stating, “It is good to be honest… we shouldn’t lie.” Tina Hicks, 45, was found in the bathroom and was taken into custody by law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office reported that the toddler was in the “wrong place at the wrong time,” and deputies would have dealt with the child’s well-being if they believed he was in danger. The office also confirmed that the toddler was healthy, intelligent, and in no way appeared to be abused.

Hicks was served with two outstanding warrants for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia while also served with an additional four other outstanding court warrants, which law enforcement did not specify. The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department praised the child for his honesty and bravery, stating that the toddler deserves a badge
