A five-year-old girl is fortunate to be alive after being struck by an intoxicated driver in Brazil, which sent her flying through the glass of a driving school. CCTV footage of the terrifying occurrence is suddenly trending online.
According to Jam Press, the bizarre tragedy occurred Saturday afternoon after the allegedly intoxicated driver lost control while traveling through Bonito, Mato Grosso do Sul State.
In the dramatic film, the suspect’s vehicle can be seen weaving erratically before colliding with a biker and a parked motorcycle in front of the driving school. The truck then crashes into a potted plant adjacent to a bench where a toddler and an adult are seated.
And when the man manages to get out of the path, the youngster and the concrete shrubbery stand are propelled flying through the glass.
Despite the awful hit, the child scrambles to her feet and runs to the putative guardian of the child. She miraculously escaped the disaster with only minor scrapes from the glass, according to an inspection conducted by the fire service shortly after their arrival. The injured motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital with leg contusions, according to Jam Press.
The test administered by emergency services revealed that the drunk driving suspect had a blood alcohol level of 0.95 mg/l, causing police officers to place him under arrest. Authorities said that the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel during the time of the tragedy.
The defendant stated in an official statement after his detention that he had been drinking since 10 a.m. that day, but he could not recollect the accident.
This is not the first occasion that a child has been struck by a vehicle and survived. In China, a toddler miraculously survived after being knocked over by a combine harvester in October of last year.
