A 10-year-old boy attacked by 8ft bull shark in the Florida Keys, requiring a life-saving amputation

A 10-year-old child was attacked by an 8-foot bull shark while diving off the Florida Keys, necessitating amputation of his leg below the knee to save his life.

Jameson Reeder Jr. was attacked by a shark while studying the Looe Key reef around five miles offshore with his mother, father, two brothers, and sister, according to a lengthy Facebook post by his uncle. They were out on a boat snorkeling along a shallow coral when a terrible incident happened and my nephew Jameson jr. was attacked by what they think was an 8-foot Bull Shark on his leg and received a crushing blow below his knee,’ Joshua Reeder stated in a Sunday email.

They had to amputate his leg just below the knee in order to preserve his life due to irreparable damage inflicted by the shark. According to them, the shark took the choice and there was nothing they could do to rescue it,’ Reeder’s tweet said. His life, however, was spared. Thank you Yeshua/Jesus!!!’

Jameson Jr. was taken back aboard the boat with his family before relatives signaled a neighboring boat carrying a nurse at around 4.30 p.m., half an hour after the incident. As he was taken to shore, a tourniquet was put over the boy’s wounds to halt the bleeding. He was subsequently helicoptered to Nicklaujs Children’s Hospital in Miami.

The victim’s uncle posted on Facebook: ‘The whole time Jameson Jr. was being cared for on the way to and at the hospital, he was expressing his faith and inquiring whether others knew Jesus.’

“If you know my brother Jameson, you know he has always functioned in this manner, and he has a son named Jameson Jr. who is much like him in that he is constantly sharing his faith and wants people to know the gift of everlasting salvation and the love and forgiveness that Jesus provides us,” the speaker said.

He is now out of surgery and recuperating, and he has been informed of what transpired. However, he is still healthy and in excellent spirits, and he will tell millions of people across the globe how Jesus spared his life and rescued him, according to Reeder’s article. As of Thursday evening, more than $46,000 had been contributed to Jameson Jr.’s medical bills via a GiveSendGo (GSG) fundraising website created by the victim’s uncle.

The fundraiser’s description states, “Jameson is a really powerful young guy.”

He was able to alert his family and cling to a noodle float until the boat could reach him. God has been looking out for him in every aspect. They may have lost their adorable kid, but Jameson knew that Jesus was with him,’ the passage said.

Jameson Jr.’s “irrepressible trust in God” enabled him to persevere, the fundraising concluded.Jameson Reeder Jr, 10, was attacked by a 8ft bull shark on Saturday afternoon while snorkeling in the Florida Keys with his father, mother, two brothers and sisters, his uncle shared in a long Facebook post after finding out that his nephew's leg had been amputated.Jameson Jr's 'fearless faith in God carried him through' the traumatizing incident, his uncle further wrote on social media. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has not yet issued a comment on the assault, but the Miami Herald has confirmed its occurrence.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the state department responsible for monitoring water activities for more comment.

Since April, the assault on Saturday was the fourth shark-related occurrence in the Florida Keys. In the Sunshine State this summer, a 13-year-old boy was bitten in the face, along with a teenager female.

Volusia County, which contains Daytona Beach and is known as the “shark bite capital of the world,” has already had six shark attacks in 2018.

Officials at the beach have advised guests to swim near a lifeguard and to avoid swimming alone.
