Police presence has been reported at the scene of a collision on New Road, Abercynon.

The authorities have confirmed that the road is currently closed in both directions, specifically between New Road (Penrhiwceiber bridge) and New Road (Abercynon turn off near Pontycnon Ind Est).

Additionally, access to New Road is also blocked at Abercynon roundabout.

Statement from South Wales Police Control Room

According to a statement released by the South Wales Police Control Room, they are currently attending a collision on New Road (A4059) in Abercynon.

As a result, the road has been closed in both directions, stretching from New Road (Penrhiwceiber bridge) to New Road (Abercynon turn off near Pontycnon Ind Est).

Furthermore, entry to New Road is not permitted at Abercynon roundabout.

Statement from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council

The Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has issued a statement informing the public about the ongoing situation.

They emphasize that the police are responding to a serious road traffic collision on the A4059 near Letty Turner Bends in Abercynon, which has led to the closure of this section of the road.

They specifically mention that there will be no access onto the A4059 from the A470 for northbound traffic.
