Two far-right commentators are spreading a false conspiracy theory about “weather manipulation,” saying that Hurricane Ian was manufactured by the so-called Deep State as “retribution” for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and other Republican-led states.
Former Republican congressional candidates DeAnna Lorraine and Lauren Witzke made the remarks, according to The Independent and RightWing Watch, an organization that monitors right-wing behavior.
“We recognize that the ‘deep state’ has weather manipulation technology,” Lorraine remarked on her Telegram show, according to a footage shared by the organization on Friday, in reference to the Florida hurricane.
She continued, “These massive hurricanes usually seem to target conservative states and red districts, and always at an opportune moment – typically just before elections.” “Or, in this case, possibly because Ron DeSantis has been frequently defying authority and battling the ‘deep state’.”

Former President Donald Trump and QAnon have used the conspiracy term “deep state” to describe to a mysterious cabal of important people who dominate politics and public life, as previously reported by Insider.
Florida is still in shock after Hurricane Ian tore through the state earlier this week, knocking out power and bringing down trees. In several structures, floodwaters climbed as high as the second storey. Officials report that Ian has weakened to a tropical storm and appears to be headed toward Georgia and South Carolina from the north.
During the conversation, Witzke concurred with Lorraine and stated that the deep state is “attempting to alter the DNA of people through vaccination.”
Witzke stated, “Of course they would be eager to do something similar to target red states.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the elites targeted Florida with something like this as retaliation for eliminating vaccine requirements and child grooming,” she stated. “They are furious with us, and it would not surprise me to learn that the technology exists. However, you are not permitted to discuss or learn about this because it is controversial or a conspiracy theory. No, it is correct”
