50-year-old man died in a tiny plane crash near Herefordshire

Tragically, a small aircraft crash in Herefordshire claimed the life of a man in his fifties.

At 10 a.m. today, a fixed-wing light aircraft crashed onto Shobdon Airfield in Leominster, Herefordshire, requiring the assistance of emergency personnel.

The fixed wing small aircraft reportedly touched down at Shobdon Airfield soon after 10.05am, according to West Midlands Ambulance Service.

According to a spokeswoman, “we found a fixed wing light aircraft that had come down at the airfield” upon arrival.

“One male patient was still inside the aircraft.”

Sadly, it became clear right once that there was nothing that could be done to save him, and the man was declared dead at the site.

An investigation into the horrific incident has now been started by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

‘We can inform that a man in his fifties has been confirmed dead following the plane crash at this morning,’ a West Mercia Police spokesperson said.

No further passengers were present, there were no additional injuries, and no other planes were engaged.

The fixed-wing, single-engine small aircraft landed this morning around 10:30.

The causes of the incident will be looked into by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
