29-year-old Limpopo man convicted of eight rapes on 13-year-old gets 100 years in jail

A 29-year-old Limpopo man was found guilty of various offences and given eight life sentences and 100 years in jail, including eight counts of rape that also included the rape of a 13-year-old child.

Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the regional spokeswoman for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), claims that between March 2015 and July 2017, Ndivhuwo Tshisikhawe terrorised at least four communities in Limpopo.

On two charges of breaking into a residence with the purpose to rape, three acts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, three crimes of abduction, and eight counts of rape, he was found guilty by the Thohoyandou High Court.

“He would break into the victims’ houses, threaten them with a knife, and steal them of R1400 in cash, bank cards, and mobile phones.

Tshisikhawe was apprehended on 19 July 2017, fled from legal custody, and was apprehended three weeks later.

The defendant asserted his innocence and informed the court that he had nothing else to say.

“State Adocate Nduvheni Mulangaphuma informed the court that Tshisikhawe is a callous man who was raping young ladies and little children throughout the aggravation of the sentence.

He said that these offences are frequent in these regions. He ended by asking with the judge to condemn him to life in prison. stated Malabi-Dzhangi.

The court, she said, had ruled in the state’s favour and had shown intolerance for Tshisikhawe’s lack of regret.

“During sentence, Judge Nare Frans Kgomo said that the defendant’s actions demonstrated his heartlessness and disregard for women.

He said that the court has a responsibility to safeguard women and children by delivering a strong message that this kind of offence cannot be accepted and that the accused should be held accountable for their heinous actions.

The judge won’t be merciful.
Malabi-Dzhangi praised the efforts of investigative officer Manthakha Khorommbi Patrick and lawyer Mulangaphuma of the Thohoyandou Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit.
