22-year-old woman dies in Christmas Day crash after police halt one car

A 22-year-old lady was killed on Christmas Day after a car that police officers attempted to stop early this morning was engaged in a horrific collision.

A 29-year-old man was been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a 22-year-old woman was killed in a horror crash on the Brent Cross Flyover in Edgware, north London, in the early hours of Christmas Day. Pictured: Google Maps image of Brent Cross Flyover
Since then, a 29-year-old male has been detained on suspicion of causing death while driving recklessly and is in detention.

Patrolling officers in a marked vehicle attempted to stop one of the vehicles involved in the deadly collision on Hendon Road in Edgware, north London, before to the collision, but the vehicle fled.

The officers opted not to pursue the vehicle, but shortly thereafter it collided with another automobile and then struck a lamppost on the Brent Cross Flyover, further along the same road.

The occupants of the vehicle who refused to halt for authorities then fled the scene on foot.

The 22-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the second vehicle, succumbed to her injuries despite the best efforts of the responding paramedics.

Her family has been notified of her passing.

Another individual, who was not the driver, sustained a mild head injury.

The Metropolitan Police stated that roads have been shut down and that inquiries are ongoing to locate the car’s additional occupants.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct informed MailOnline that it has not yet received a referral from the Metropolitan Police regarding the event and so had no present involvement.

Also, the Metropolitan Police have been called for an update.

On Christmas Eve, a second 22-year-old woman was murdered by a police car in Liverpool hours before the terrible collision.

Rachael Louise Moore was struck and killed while walking in the Kensington neighborhood of the city around 8:10 p.m. yesterday.

The family of the young woman released the following statement: “Rachael Louise Moore, age 22, beloved daughter of Alison and Ian, sister to Ben, and adored granddaughter of Nana Sue.”

“Partner of Jack and kind friend to many.” All those whose lives she touched will miss her tremendously. The family wants respect for their privacy during this difficult time.

Witnesses at the scene told the Liverpool Echo that there were a large number of police officers, with one claiming to have seen a woman struck by a vehicle.

One individual told the media outlet, ‘It’s horrible. Today is Christmas Eve. Whatever it is appears ugly. It is devastating.’

On Friday morning, a 53-year-old mother of three was tragically killed in Oldham, Greater Manchester, by an unmarked police vehicle.

Heather Smedley was brought to a hospital in Oldham, Greater Manchester, following the “brief pursuit,” but she died from her injuries.

At 10 a.m., officers were frantically pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle.

Her family described her as “wonderful” and “the glue that held our family together” in a statement released by Greater Manchester Police.

According to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, a car driven by a member of the public collided with an unmarked police vehicle.

Heather sustained “serious injuries” and died in hospital later this morning, according to the IOPC, which also confirmed she was not in the vehicle police were pursuing.
