2017 hiking teen murder suspect has been charged

The suspect in the 2017 murders of two teens who were hiking has now been officially charged.

The unnamed guy who approached Libby German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, as they crossed the Manon high bridge in the woods in Delphi, Indiana in February 2017 had long been assumed to be Richard Allen, 50.

On the day of her death, Libby had uploaded a Snapchat photo of herself strolling by the train tracks. The updates became a sensation, turning the case into one of the most iconic unsolved homicides in American history.

The bloodied remains of the girls were discovered around half a mile from the bridge.

The first significant development in the investigation came with Allen’s arrest on Friday in connection with the deaths. He is now facing two murder charges.

Although the state police will not be making the case’s evidence public, Indiana State Superintendent Doug Carter said at a press conference on Monday that “This investigation is far from done.”

Additionally, a probable cause report has been temporarily sealed.

Following the announcement of Allen’s arrest on Friday, a horrific image of the alleged perpetrator surfaced and spread online.

In the backdrop, a few feet away, a police sketch of the Delphi murder suspect was seen displayed on a notice board on the wall. The picture depicted Allen grinning with his wife.

The location and time of the photo’s capture are unknown. The picture was shot at least two years after the killings since the suspect sketch in the photograph was not made public until April 2019.
