2-Month-old Baby suffered an Aorta Pulmonary Window hole in her heart

Sakshi (name changed) suffered an Aorta Pulmonary Window hole in her heart when she was two months old. The infant would not have survived infancy if she had not received prompt treatment, which she did thanks to financial help from SBI Foundation via Genesis Foundation.

Sakshi, who weighs 2.9 kilograms, is one of the smallest children in India to have her Aorta Pulmonary Window device closed. Sahira and Suhail (names altered) are from Thane, Maharashtra, and she is their only child.

She developed breathing and feeding difficulties a few weeks after her birth. She was diagnosed with Aorta Pulmonary Window, a complicated congenital cardiac abnormality (AP Window). It affects 0.1% of all children born with a cardiac defect. The aorta and the pulmonary artery are the two main arteries in a normal heart, with the aorta carrying blood to the body and the pulmonary carrying blood to the lungs.

There is a hole between these arteries in an AP Window, allowing more blood to flow to the lungs and thereby raising lung pressure. Children with AP Window need to be treated right away; else, they will not survive infancy and will die of heart failure. Thane’s device was closed in the Cath Lab by Dr. L Srinivas, a pediatric cardiologist at Jupiter Hospital.

Her father works as a laborer (loader) for a pittance. Her operation was supported by SBI Foundation in collaboration with Genesis Foundation because she had no money for therapy. Sahira, who is two months old and weighs 2.9 kilograms, is one of the 25+ infants supported by SBI Foundation in collaboration with Genesis Foundation.

When children are born with simple cardiac problems, a one-time medical intervention ensures that they will be treated for the rest of their lives and will be able to live a normal life.

“We are happy of how far our country’s medical infrastructure and capacity have progressed, and that such difficult treatment operations can now be carried out on infants. We are pleased to have been able to provide timely financial support for Sahira’s treatment through our cooperation with Genesis Foundation and Jupiter Hospital, and we look forward to her bright future “SBI Foundation President and COO, Shri Lalit Mohan “We are only able to Save Little Hearts, one kid at a time, with the help of CSR partners like SBI Foundation.

Their faith in our work’s transparency ensures that children like Sahira, who would not have survived childhood, can enjoy a healthy and joyful life “- Genesis Foundation Operations Director, Simran Sagar “I am grateful to Genesis Foundation and SBI Foundation for providing the family with timely financial assistance; without it, Sahira would not have survived.

She can now live a normal life with just one medical intervention done at the correct moment.” – Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. L Srinivas, Jupiter Hospital, Pune SBI Foundation Information The State Bank of India’s CSR arm is the SBI Foundation.
