1 fatality when hikers lost their way in an Arizona park while thirsty

In Arizona’s Special Activities and Recreation Area (SARA) Park, a group of hikers became disoriented after running out of water, resulting in one man’s death, according to the authorities.

The Lake Havasu City Fire Department was contacted on Friday afternoon to assist in finding a party of four tourists who had gone on a trek in the park but had run out of water and “could not proceed to the trailhead,” according to a post on Facebook from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

They had no water, were dehydrated, and had heat exhaustion symptoms, according to authorities.

Three of the hikers, ages 63, 61, and 27, were found by the fire department; they were all found to be critically dehydrated, according to the police. For medical care, three people were all transferred.

The fourth hiker, a male hiker aged 31 who had abandoned the group after they had called 911, was found by the rescued hikers to have wandered out in search of the trailhead.

He was exhibiting indications of weariness and dehydration at the time, according to the police.

SARA PARK, SOUTH OF LAKE HAVASU CITY, HAS LOST HIKERS, INCLUDING ONE MISSING (LOCATED DECEASED), BAD NEWS. 2:30 pm yesterday, roughly…

Teams of search and rescue personnel, including those on the ground and in helicopters, searched all night for the missing guy, according to the police.

Police said that they discovered his corpse Saturday at noon in the “desert wasteland.”

Police said that since the party was from outside the region, they were not aware of the risks associated with trekking in the heat. On Friday, the local temperature surpassed 100 degrees.

They came to SARA Park from out of town and were unprepared for the riskier summer trail system and trekking at the height of the day, according to authorities.

Police could not right away identify the deceased hiker.
